Her family owns a flagship store called The Indian Textiles Co. in the heart of Mumbai and is over 80 years old now. She launched her brand Shivangi Kasliwal in 2009 with the sole purpose of reviving Banarasis as she remembered them to be, and also because of her love for the weave. After the weaving industry went downhill, a lot of weavers moved on to power looms and other constructive jobs therefore leaving the art behind. But Shivangi Kasliwal explored and reconnected with such artisans to bring back Banarasis with full force.
