This Bandhani Collection is the product of the sheer creativity and entrepreneurship of the design labels that we collaborate with. From paintings on the walls of Ajanta Caves to the manuscripts written by ancient scholars - Bandhani is referenced in writing and illustrations since as early as the 7th century. The classic tie and dye method gets its name from the Sanskrit word ‘bandh’ meaning ‘to bind’. The elaborate designs in bandhani garments are made by tying small amounts of cloth with thread, dyeing the fabric, and then cutting the threads off to reveal the design left behind.
Â
Paying homage to this traditional art form, we present the exquisite and elegant Designer Bandhani Collection. This comprehensive designer collection captures the essence of this age-old method in its range of Bandhani Sarees, Bandhani Kurtis, designer bandhani lehengas, designer bandhani anarkali, and designer bandhani nehru jackets. Traditional Bandhani work has a rich repertoire of motifs and patterns ranging from designs inspired from nature to geometric and kaleidoscopic designs. The most basic motif is the ekdali or one single dot that is the building block for more patterns such as Tikunthi or three dots that make circles and squares and Satbandi or dots in groups of seven. The singular dot is also used to create intricate patterns such as Dungar Shahi or Shikargah or a mountain like pattern, Jaaldar a web like pattern, and Laddu Jalebi or a swirling pattern. Our range of Designer Bandhani Sarees showcase these classic styles while inventing new ones.
Â
Go for an understated and elegant ensemble Bandhani Set with a burgundy designer Bandhani Saree made in a cellulose blend base and featuring bandhani dot print along its borders and pallu.
