Divya Nambiar
Based out of Delhi, the designer’s father is a successful industrialist whereas her mother is a real estate investor. Her elder sister dons multiple hats as an investment banker, theatre artist and public speaker. Divya’s husband is an ex-Rugby player of India and was a part of his family business before the couple moved to Bangalore. Now, they are business partners too. Divya loves playing the piano too, and she is a really good badminton player!

The beginning…
“I started Unniyarcha four years ago. Since I do not have a background in fashion/retail, it has been quite a steep learning curve and I still have a lot to learn. For two years, I have worked as a one-man team that involved meeting vendors, designing, packaging, photography, sourcing, creating a website, and online marketing. This was a deliberate decision I made so that I can learn and be able to lead a team tomorrow. Today, we have a team of 18, out of which 12 are craftsmen. Our in-house manufacturing in Bangalore has been the biggest learning and advantage till date,” says Divya.

Unniyarcha, the jewellery brand is named after and inspired by the very beautiful and legendary warrior of 17th century Malabar India. Known for her grace and valor, adorned in jewels and armed with a fierce spirit, Unniyarcha chose to wear an urumi (flexible sword) for a belt, around her waist. Every piece is fit for a queen – a woman of infinite spirit and beauty. Unniyarcha has a very passionate team working hard behind the scenes to make it a global silver jewellery brand. The creative head, Divya Nambiar is a graduate in finance from the prestigious Columbia University and the legend of Unniyarcha is her source of inspiration for the brand.
