How did your career begin?
Before launching her brand, the designer interned at Shahi Exports where she designed for brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Abercrombie and Fitch. Later, Shilpi Agrawal worked with various brands in Kolkata, where she gained hands-on experience in the practical world of fashion with textile artists, embroiderers and more.
A Brief introduction about your brand/label?
SYNONYM is a Kolkata based label making minimal occasion-wear for women using timeless fabrics, breathable silhouettes, intricate hand embroideries and fine details. Having a contemporary approach bound by an Indian soul, the brand believes that comfort is the key to dressing right. They create new textures in every collection using fabric manipulation techniques, leftover fabrics, threads, cords etc. Relaxed silhouettes and soothing hues with subtle embroideries create a modern, feminine vibe for the women of Synonym.
