Kaabia Grewal & Sasha Grewal
Outhouse Jewellery is the brainchild of sisters Kaabia and Sasha Grewal. They both moved from Ludhiana to Delhi in 2007 to pursue their love for jewellery design. Both sisters were students of fine jewellery design and manufacturing and are trained in Industrial design from IIGJ. While Sasha pursued designing jewellery for high street brands like Topshop and River Island after her degree, Kaabia pursued her interest in Gemology from GIA, New York and interned with jewellery design maverick Edie Borgo. Both Sisters have varied sensibilities which are synonymous with Outhouse's aesthetic. Both the designers are very individualistic and very different when it comes to their personal styles. Being fun, Sasha loves experimenting with dramatic and boho looks making her very bohemian in style. Kaabia would describe her personal style as more quirky and edgy.

The Beginning...
Fashion and its kind have always been a guilty pleasure of a conversation between both the sisters. It comes to them like most girls, from their mother; who at an early age took them to her jeweller; and Sasha & Kaabia fell in love with all things sparkly. Like most girls, their love affair with jewellery started at an early age exploring and trying on every piece of jewellery in the store while their mom shopped for them. Both the designers were scoring A’s as art students and were swift doodlers of jewellery patterns. Posting completing their degrees in gemstones and diamond grading they were off to get their first jobs in the design world. Kaabia's first Internship in NYC at Edie Borgo changed the whole concept of jewellery for them and they developed their streak of experimenting, and they soon decided to start Outhouse. "The design process feels like a hurricane has hit the room. We sit together and brainstorm. We also love mixing materials and textures, so you will always find random things lying around our office that were once a very integral part of a conversation. What also helps to give our jewellery an eccentric vibe is our varied sensibilities and preferences.”
A Brief introduction about your brand/label?
"We have managed to combine our distinct personal styles to create the unique Outhouse aesthetic - taking inspiration from our travels around the globe." While Sasha experiments with dramatic yet classy looks, Kaabia describes her personal expression as quirky and edgy. Outhouse’s inspiration lies in a classic combination of shapes and symbols of Indian and International cultures, moods and fashion; experimenting with materials like Swarovski, semi-precious stones, leather and metals, creating beautiful works of wearable art.
