Although Swapna Anumolu studied engineering, her desire for fashion design always remained. During her engineering course in Chennai, Swapna spent evenings at a boutique, where she learned the master tailor's trade and got involved in pattern making and cutting. After graduating with an engineering degree and working for a bit in advertising, Swapna was still drawn to design. Supported by her husband and business partner, Nikhil Viswanathan Nagarajan, she went on to pursue her passion. Swapna decided to join NIFT Hyderabad to gain formal fashion training, and the journey into the world of design and entrepreneurship started.

Mishru, a Hindi word meaning ‘blend ', is a brand that beautifully fuses two distinct sartorial crafts and techniques. Founded by Swapna Anumolu, Mishru is a testament to the harmonious marriage of Indian hand embroideries with contemporary designs. The brand's pieces, such as layered lehengas with billowy-sleeved capes and structured blazers with flared pants, offer a versatile range for both formal and casual wear. What truly sets Mishru apart is its meticulous attention to detail and subtlety. The brand's signature off-white pearls and glass bead embroidery add a delicate touch to its captivating colour palette, featuring lime greens, sorbet pinks, and ice blues. Inspired by the designer’s vision of art transcending time and culture, the label draws Hyderabad's diverse architectural marvels to craft Mishru's unique ensembles. Mishru offers a modern yet timeless interpretation of classic Indian wear. The label’s designs are characterised by intricate jaal embroidery, pearl beads, and 3-D work, which testify to the high standards of perfection.
