The beginning…
After completing their masters from Delhi & Pune University, co-founders Sonam Angmo and Stanzin Minglak decided to return back to Ladakh & work with our local women artisans. Both their fathers were working in the government handloom dept and they were exposed to pashmina. The duo started their social enterprise Lena Ladakh Pashmina in 2016.
Lena Shawls
Started by two local women Minglak & Sonam in 2016, Lena takes pride in blending tradition with contemporary, old with new & creating pashmina heirlooms that are meaningful for the wearers & makers alike. Lena is a Ladakh based slow-textile label that crafts pashmina products in small batches, where each stage of textile production is carried by hand from spinning to dyeing to weaving. A close knit team of nomads, local artisans & creators, Lena is committed to put in practice the dying traditional local skills of hand making textiles, all the while providing sustainable & dignified sources of livelihood to the women who for generations have quietly kept these local skills alive.
