Taniya O’Connor
Born and raised in New Delhi, Taniya O’Connor was always surrounded by close-knit, multi-faith families that enabled her to blend into mixed cultures and traditions. Taniya’s father was a keen gardener and hence, she held a special kind of fascination towards various trees, plants and flowers. This defined her love for organic motifs and nature-inspired colours which are reflected in her designs.

The beginning…
Taniya started working as a stylist for television shows with channels like CNBC, NDTV Good Times and MTV. She assisted the director of Elle magazine Mohan Neelakantan for quite a few years and also styled the secondary cast for Imtiaz Ali’s movie Rockstar. Her pret label called OCD started about two years into styling. But eventually, she made the leap to run a full-time design label and Ayinat was born.

Ayinat is all about colour and fun. The label uses only natural fabrics to create playful and relaxed contemporary Indian wear. The designer’s love for traditional motifs and crafts is reflected in the designs which are then mixed with fun, modern silhouettes.
Highlighted Collections.
‘Flower or my Father’ was Ayinat’s Spring-Summer’18 collection. It was dedicated to the designer’s father and his love for nature. All the styles were named after his favourite flowers. In her own words, it has been her most special collection to date and also the most successful.
